Kate & Mike’s unique wedding day story was featured in the Florida Times Union and on www.jacksonville.com. Stop by and check it out!
All of my weddings are very unique for lots of different reasons and Kate & Mike’s Club Continental wedding was no exception. Early in the day, the club lost power and was off for almost the entire day, with the exception of a few minutes during the reception. Luckily I bring plenty of lights and seem to find light in the not so obvious places, Club Continental cooks with gas, the DJ had a backup plan and Kate’s mom brought an abundance of votives. I have to really commend Kate because she stayed calm and the lack of power didn’t put a damper on the fact that she was about to marry Mike. Kate has one of the sweetest mom’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Kate and her mom thought of everything and it shows in every aspect of the day. There were so many personal details that she incorporated and it really brought a lot of personality to the event. The weather started out very rainy but the closer it came to ceremony time, the sun came out. I was pretty happy about this because Kate and Mike planned to do a “first look” and most of their pictures before the ceremony. I can’t stress how much it really helps to do pictures before the ceremony. Kate and Mike still had their private moment together which I think helps calm the nerves and it allowed them to move into their reception fairly quickly after the ceremony and enjoy more time with their guests. Aside from the loss of power, the day really couldn’t have been more perfect. Thank you to the Baileys for making me feel so welcome! It was an honor to work with such amazing people! Have fun in Ireland!
XOXO

On Saturday, I met up with Kate and Mike in Gainesville to do their engagement session. Since they are both UF grads, we thought it would be great to go back to the place where all the magic happened.
I had already met Kate and her mom earlier this year but this was my first time meeting Mike. Let me tell you, this guy was a trooper! They are a great couple and he happily went along with whatever Kate or I suggested and I think the end result was awesome. We got some great shots and I was happy to shoot in a place that’s a little different than my norm. Go Gators!
I love engagement shoots because it gives me an opportunity to spend some one on one time with my couples before their big day. I’m looking forward to their May 2011 wedding and I know there will be no shortage of fun!
XOXO

Just a little glimpse of the goodness I captured in Gainesville yesterday. . . . . .
